Welcome

Welcome to the final edition of the BAG Update for 2022!

The beginning of December saw the final BAG Board meeting of 2022, in which we reviewed BAG Strategic Priorities for 2023. Core to our discussion were the continued focus on sustainability, the return to business growth in the aviation sector and the importance of equipment supplier member engagement to progress on all fronts.  We look forward to sharing  in more detail with you all early in the new year. We also reconfirmed that the BAG Working Groups would be key in the delivery of the plans for how the Priorities would be achieved, and BAG’s KPI’s delivered. The BAG Working Groups will be opened up once again in the new year to the wider membership for active and diverse involvement; full details including Terms of Reference and how to join the BAG Working Groups will be circulated in January 2023. Ahead of this, please consider the list of Working Groups BAG operates and who from your business might be interested in joining any of these. I stress again, we are looking for diverse involvement so would encourage you to share this across your business as broadly as possible. The 2023 BAG Working Groups are Membership, Events, Missions, Strategic Relationships, Communications, Business Intelligence, Sustainability, Innovation and Diversity & Inclusion. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please reach out to Bettina Rigg.

Last week BAG was invited to join a call with the Department for Transport to provide thoughts ahead of their publication of the Call for Evidence on Zero Emission Airport Operations by 2040. We will be sharing more information from DfT as soon as the call opens for everyone to respond.

We also held calls with our colleagues in the Department for International Trade around two of BAG’s Priority Markets: India and Saudi Arabia. The UK Airports Sector Mission to India has now been confirmed to go ahead 20-24 February 2023,  and will visit key stakeholders in New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore OR Hyderabad and Mumbai; a draft outline programme can be found on the BAG website and registrations to attend are now open. The UK Airports Sector Mission to Saudi Arabia is scheduled for 26 February – 1 March 2023 and more information can be found here. These activities are representative of a broad range of engagements that continue to increase the profile of British Aviation Group and our members. Please do contact us and share your views so that we can represent you in the best way possible.

On 1 December we hosted our latest virtual BAG Member Engagement Workshop which focused around opportunities for BAG members and featured updates from Shakir Khaja, Lead of the Business Intelligence Working Group, Matthew Butters, Deputy Chair and Lead of the Missions Working Group and Tim Morrison, Lead of the Strategic Relationships Working Group. The full slide pack as well as the recording are available on the BAG website.

BAG’s Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group hosted the latest edition of our Inclusion Calendar virtual events for the year earlier this week – recognising Disability History Month to raise awareness of disability for both aviation as employers and customer services. We were joined by Mike Miller-Smith, CEO of Aerobility, a fantastic charity BAG has been supporting for a long time, who change lives by providing anyone, with any disability with access to the magic and wonder of flight. If you have missed the session you can still access the recording and slide pack on the BAG website.

If you would like to join us on 18 January 2023, there are still a small number of final spaces for the BAG New Year Dinner available – where we will be expecting around 400 guests. Bookings can be made via the BAG website.

If you would like to get in touch or have any further feedback please get in contact – chair@britishaviationgroup.co.uk

In the meantime, I would like to wish all BAG members a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year 2023! Please note that the BAG Offices will be closed over the festive period.

Jason Fowler, Chair, British Aviation Group
Seasons Greetings from BAG!

The BAG Chair, BAG Board Members and the BAG Secretariat would like to wish all BAG members and their families Seasons Greetings over the Festive Period. This year has seen the start of the recovery of the Aviation Industry, which is great to see and the prospect of a more sustainable, resilient and inclusive sector is definitely an outcome we are all seeing as high on the agenda for the airports, the airlines and our membership.

We would like to thank the membership for your continued support in what has been another tough year, but it has been great to see the support across the membership and the engagement to deliver the BAG strategies to help create opportunities in an inclusive industry. We understand that this time of year can be challenging for people in the industry from many perspectives and we will always strive to support our members throughout the year but recognising this can be a difficult time as well as a joyous time.

We wish you and your families a New Year filled with happiness, prosperity and a continued growth.

DIT UK Tradeshow Programme - Inter Airports SE Asia 2023

The application deadline for Inter Airports SE Asia (Attendee) 2023 is fast approaching (midnight 29th Dec). There is still enough time for stakeholders to encourage suitable businesses (turnover between £85k and £250k) to apply for support at this event. The UKTP (Attendee element) targets smaller businesses and offers small grants (£200 Europe, £500 outside Europe) to ‘attend’ tradeshows so they can get an understanding of what is involved and the benefit of using them as a sales tool in the future (possibly as an exhibitor).

*Did you know that companies can now use the UK Tradeshow Programme 'Eligibility Checker Tool' to quickly check if they are eligible for support.

Sponsor the BAG Stand at PTE 2023! *Book your stand Now!*

The British Aviation Group shall be returning to RAI, Amsterdam in March 2023, providing BAG members the opportunity to exhibit by sponsoring the BAG Stand at the increasingly popular Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE). Over the years the BAG stand at PTE has grown considerably, becoming one of the main networking hubs for the aviation industry to meet and do business. This is due to our BAG member companies sponsoring the stand and drawing in the interest and key players in the industry.
The show in 2022 saw over 10,000 visitors from over 130 countries attend and spans across 19,000 sqm of space - making this one of the biggest airport shows in the aviation event calendar.  The event attracts over 1,900 senior airport, airline, aviation authority, government and related business executives from all over the world.

The BAG Sponsorship stand package is one of the most affordable and effective ways to exhibit at this world class. The location for 2023 means companies will benefit from a very visible presence at the show due to our stand location.  The package is sold to the BAG members only, which will ensure our members receive the most exclusive service.

For £1,990, the BAG Sponsorship Stand Package includes:
  • Refreshments available to BAG sponsors and their guests during live show days
  • Company logo on sponsors wall
  • 1 box of company literature displayed on the shared literature racks of the BAG stand
  • Tables and chairs available for ad hoc meetings on the stand. You can book to use these for short meetings as part of the package either in advance or at the event (subject to availability). The meeting point facilities are shared with several other BAG PTE sponsors
  • A dedicated Event Manager who will manage and coordinate your presence both pre-event and whilst onsite at the event
  • A truly cost-effective way to promote your company with a strong brand presence

Please click here to view the overall event floor plan.  The BAG stand is located facing the snack bar, to the left of Hall 1. We are now delighted to announce that the rescheduled event will be held as the BAG New Year Dinner on 18 January 2023 at the Brewery in central London, and we are looking forward to seeing you there – coming together as a community with a wide array of stakeholders, clients and Government representatives.
