The British Aviation Group held a member workshop day on 24 April 2020 to review the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on UK aviation. The workshops started with the proposition of the necessary Conditions for Flight. Members provided insight and feedback on those conditions that have been affected by the crisis and provided their views on how the negative consequences of the crisis could be counteracted in order to restore favourable Conditions for Flight in the future. We have captured these insights in Part A of our Conditions for Flight document. This document is currently a presentation designed for live discussion with other interested parties in government and the aviation industry. To further complement this document, we have introduced a Part B to the document which offers BAG Member Companies to be featured against the 4 Conditions for Flight (Economic, Social Licence, Experience and Safety) sharing examples of how the aviation supply chain can assist in the restart and recovery process.
On the 9 June, BAG and DIT hosted two webinars with DIT post looking at how the UK business can support the international aviation sector in restart and recovery. Both webinars were very well received with over 50 DIT from post around the world, including countries such as Hong Kong, China, Australia, New Zealand, France, Sweden, Oman, Kuwait, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, Israel, Norway, Nepal, South Africa. The webinar provided an overview of the challenges facing the aviation sector in restart and recovery post COVID, and the products and services that UK exporters can provide to global aviation sector customers – including governments, airports, airlines and other stakeholders. This will help DIT teams in post to understand and share the UK export offer, and to identify market intelligence that would be of most value to UK exporters
