BAG Seminar and Evening Reception- 29 September 2021 * Speaker Announcement & Book your tickets now* BAG is looking forward to our LIVE BAG Seminar & Evening Reception on Wednesday 29 September 2021 at The Brewery, London. [This is the date reserved for what would traditionally be the BAG Annual Dinner]. We are delighted to announce the following confirmed speakers for the BAG Seminar “Innovation in Aviation”:
Rohit Talwar, Global Futurist / CEO, Fast Future
Gary Cutts, ISCF Future Flight Challenge Director
The event will provide an ideal opportunity to come together as the aviation community, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, to network with leading airport clients, representatives of UK Government and colleagues from across the UK supply chain and we are delighted that key stakeholders from Heathrow Airport, London City Airport, Department for International Trade (DIT) as well as Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom have already accepted our invitations to join us at this event. As restrictions lift and industry begins to recover, we wanted our first in-person event of the year to be as inclusive as possible providing an opportunity for networking to take place between members, their guests and other organisations active in the sector in a safe and relaxed manner. The networking event incorporates our traditional Summer Seminar, postponed from late June, as a late afternoon session preceding the evening reception. The seminar is themed around “Innovation in Aviation” and will be in the form of a conference style session of about ninety minutes on key topics affecting the UK and international aviation industry. Following the seminar there will be a reception with canapés, bowl food and free-flowing drinks throughout the evening, providing ample opportunity for networking.

BAG Board Elections Update Further to the recent call for nominations for the BAG Board we have received a total of six applications, all of which meet the eligibility criteria for Board membership. As this matches the number of Board vacancies this year, there is no need to run an election process and we will not be calling for votes. In line with the BAG Constitution the six nominations will be put forward for formal ratification at our Annual Meeting, which is scheduled to take place on 29 September, with names of the successful candidates to be announced at the evening reception following that meeting. |

DIT Kuwait Aviation Webinar *Presentation & Press Release*
The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) in partnership with Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) of Kuwait organised an Aviation webinar on 4 August 2021 to showcase the current development works across the airport, provide an overview of the wider airport master plan, and highlight upcoming opportunities for UK companies. In her welcome address to the 80 companies attending the event, HMA Belinda Lewis stated that Aviation connectivity contributes to the success of businesses in several different ways. It facilitates the movement of services and goods, workers and tourists, and drives business innovation and investment. In doing so, aviation generates employment and helps to improve the productivity of the wider economy in both UK and Kuwait. To view the press release and presentations please click here. |

DfT Jet Zero Consultation: Call for BAG Members Views / Insights for consideration *Deadline 20th August 2021* As noted in the BAG update last week, we are planning to respond to the UK government consultation on “Jet zero: our strategy for net zero aviation” published on 14th July alongside a wider Transport Decarbonisation Plan. The consultation document and supporting evidence set out Government’s proposed approach and principles to reach net zero aviation by 2050 – with an ambition to: • decarbonise aviation in a way that preserves the benefits of air travel • maximise the opportunities that decarbonisation can bring We recognise that some members will respond directly to the consultation in their own right – but see the opportunity to provide a wider industry response, taking account of input from across the membership. Our intention is to focus the response on those areas of the consultation where BAG members have the greatest expertise and contribution to the debate. With this in mind, we would particularly like to hear member views on some of the key questions. Please click here to view the questions and respond.

BAG Virtual Get Together: UK Trade Policy and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in Aviation with the Department for International Trade (DIT)- 12 August 2021 *Presentation & Recording Available*
British Aviation Group (BAG) are grateful to the Department for International Trade (DIT) and Henrik Jonströmer and colleagues (John Carroll, Rebecca McLoughlin and Alec Jenkins) for their superb webinar Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and Trade Policy. We covered a range of insightful subjects from what makes up an FTA, the successful FTA by the UK to date, the constituent FTA chapters and annexes, to deep dives into the Services and Procurement chapters. The dialogue with our members was hugely productive and BAG looks forward to further sessions in the coming months. We would also like to thank Shakir Khaja for facilitating the session and Graham Bolton. BAG Members can view the recording and presentation here.

5th British-Irish Airports EXPO – in strategic partnership with British Aviation Group 22 & 23 June 2021
British Aviation Group backs 5th British-Irish Airports EXPO as “Shopwindow for BAG members” on platform with Heathrow, Manchester Airports Group and Gatwick. British Aviation Group has once again thrown its weight behind the UK’s biggest airport trade show as it moves from Olympia to ExCeL London on 22-23 June. The EXPO, which typically comprises up to 150 exhibitors, six free to attend conferences, and draws over 2,300 visitors, has been closely associated with BAG since the very first event was hosted by Birmingham Airport at the NEC in 2016. Commenting on the renewed partnership, Graham Bolton, Chair, British Aviation Group said: “It’s very important to us that we maintain our position as a Strategic Partner of the British-Irish Airports EXPO. The EXPO event is, by any measure, the biggest and most connected airport trade show in the UK and provides a unique shopwindow for the world beating products and services that our members have to offer. Our partnership very much allows us to think of this as ‘our home show’ – which is accessible to the widest possible cross section of the membership. I encourage all of our members to engage, get involved, and fully take advantage of this ‘special relationship’ and the valuable 10% exhibition discount available to all BAG members.” Alongside the Hosting Airport Coalition, BAG is joined by the Regional and Business Airports Group (RABA), the regional airports trade association of over 40 UK and British Dependency airports. Registration to attend the EXPO and the six free conferences is free-of-charge. To exhibit (and 10% discount on published exhibition prices for BAG members) contact Steve O’Connor, Sales Director.
