New-York based Turner Construction Co. was awarded the final leg of a massive Memphis International Airport (MEM) project during the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) meeting on Aug. 12.

Turner Construction received MSCAA board approval to manage the third and final phase of the $300 million centralized de-icing facility along Louis Carruthers Drive. The company — which was chosen over four other contractors — received the work with a low bid of $11.5 million and an initial contingency amount of $1.1 million or 10% for the project.

According to a resolution, the Airport Authority established a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal of 25% for the full term of the project's contract.
