BAG Seminar and Evening Reception- 29 September 2021 *Book your tickets now*
We are delighted to announce a LIVE BAG Seminar & Evening Reception on Wednesday 29 September 2021 at The Brewery, London. [This is the date reserved for what would traditionally be the BAG Annual Dinner].

The event will provide an ideal opportunity to come together as the aviation community, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, to network with leading airport clients, representatives of UK Government and colleagues from across the UK supply chain.
As restrictions lift and industry begins to recover, we wanted our first in-person event of the year to be as inclusive as possible providing an opportunity for networking to take place between members, their guests and other organisations active in the sector in a safe and relaxed manner.

The networking event incorporates our traditional Summer Seminar, postponed from late June, as a late afternoon session preceding the evening reception. The seminar is themed around “Innovation in Aviation” and will be in the form of a conference style session of about ninety minutes on key topics affecting the UK and international aviation industry. Our confirmed speakers already include Heathrow Airport, Gary Cutts Challenge Director – Future Flight Innovate UK
 and Global Futurist Rohit Talwar.

Following the seminar there will be a reception with canapés, bowl food and free-flowing drinks throughout the evening, providing ample opportunity for networking.

BAG Board Elections 2021 - Call for Nominations *Deadline 13 August 2021*
We are approaching the time for Elections to the Board of the British Aviation Group, and would like to invite nominations for candidates from across the membership. The BAG Board sets the strategy and works with the BAG Secretariat to drive BAG activities forward, ensuring that BAG represents and serves the requirements of its members. Participation on the Board offers a unique opportunity to help promote the interests of the membership and wider supply chain – whilst providing tremendous scope for professional and personal development.

BAG Annual Review 2021 Update!

Last year BAG launched their first online digital BAG Annual Review promoting BAG’s activities in a virtual and interactive way, to highlight month by month what BAG has achieved, including key activities, Special Interest Groups and Regions, and how BAG has successfully engaged with its members throughout a challenging year.
We have recently updated the BAG 2021 Review which highlights all our activity so far this year from webinars to Special Interest Group and Regional activities as well as our engagement with organisations such as The Future of Aviation Group, the Aviation Export Board and the Department for International Trade. BAG Virtual Get Together: UK Trade Policy and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in Aviation with the Department for International Trade (DIT)- 12 August 2021
As part of BAG’s membership of the Department for International Trade’s (DIT’s) Transport Services Trade Advisory Group BAG is coordinating with DIT a virtual session on UK Trade Policy and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and its impact to the aviation sector. The Trade Advisory Groups (TAGs) were established in July 2019 to meet the requirements of the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) trade negotiations with the principal purpose to provide the blend of strategic and technical expertise required to ensure the United Kingdom’s trade negotiations are able to progress at pace.

Henrik Jonstromer, Head of Transport and Delivery Services and other DIT policy colleagues will be joining us to provide insight to BAG members on
  • The role and objectives of Trade Policy
  • Structure and content of Free Trade Agreements
  • Key threads within Free Trade Agreements such as services, free movement of goods, customs and procurement
  • The structures used to engage with Government around FTAs

The session will be facilitated by Shakir Khaja, BAG Board members and BAG’s appointed representative on the Transport Service Trade Advisory Group, who will share with members BAG’s level of commitment and what BAG has been doing so far in terms of engagement. BAG Workshop with DIT Philippines and San Miguel Corporation – Digital Strategy and Smart Operations – Thought leadership pieces for presentation sought *Deadline 6 August 2021*
Further to the recent BAG Deep Dive Session on the Philippines in April 2021 and BAG’s dedicated UK workshop on “Design Delivery Models” in late May, you will be aware that the San Miguel Corporation is planning to actively commission work for the New Manila International Airport / Bulacan Airport.

BAG has been coordinating with DIT Philippines over the past months and been involved in initial conversations and awareness sessions about the UK Aviation Supply Chain with the San Miguel Corporation. We have now managed to secure second dedicated UK Workshop for San Miguel Corporation on “Digital Strategy and Smart Operations”, which is scheduled to take place in late August / early September  2021.

We are now actively seeking BAG member companies who would be interested in participating in this workshop session by delivering thought leadership / knowledge share pieces. Please note: we are looking for solution agnostic presentations and are keen to understand which angle / aspect you could bring to this workshop. If you are interested in participating, could you please submit your interest with a short description of your theme / topic. We are hoping to produce a session with linked up and themed presentations which connect, therefore we might introduce you to other BAG member companies who also expressed an interest in participating if your themes are complimentary.

For more information on this session including proposed themes please contact
Hannah Sallabanks.
DfT Jet Zero Consultation: Call for BAG Members Views / Insights for consideration
As noted in the BAG update last week, we are planning to respond to the UK government consultation on “
Jet zero: our strategy for net zero aviation” published on 14th July alongside a wider Transport Decarbonisation Plan. The consultation document and supporting evidence set out Government’s proposed approach and principles to reach net zero aviation by 2050 – with an ambition to:
•    decarbonise aviation in a way that preserves the benefits of air travel
•    maximise the opportunities that decarbonisation can bring

We recognise that some members will respond directly to the consultation in their own right – but see the opportunity to provide a wider industry response, taking account of input from across the membership. Our intention is to focus the response on those areas of the consultation where BAG members have the greatest expertise and contribution to the debate. With this in mind, we would particularly like to hear member views on some of the key questions. Please click

5th British-Irish Airports EXPO – in strategic partnership with British Aviation Group 22 & 23 June 2021

British Aviation Group backs 5th British-Irish Airports EXPO as “Shopwindow for BAG members” on platform with Heathrow, Manchester Airports Group and Gatwick.
British Aviation Group has once again thrown its weight behind the UK’s biggest airport trade show as it moves from Olympia to ExCeL London on 22-23 June. The EXPO, which typically comprises up to 150 exhibitors, six free to attend conferences, and draws over 2,300 visitors, has been closely associated with BAG since the very first event was hosted by Birmingham Airport at the NEC in 2016.
Commenting on the renewed partnership, Graham Bolton, Chair, British Aviation Group said: “It’s very important to us that we maintain our position as a Strategic Partner of the British-Irish Airports EXPO. The EXPO event is, by any measure, the biggest and most connected airport trade show in the UK and provides a unique shopwindow for the world beating products and services that our members have to offer. Our partnership very much allows us to think of this as ‘our home show’ – which is accessible to the widest possible cross section of the membership. I encourage all of our members to engage, get involved, and fully take advantage of this ‘special relationship’ and the valuable 10% exhibition discount available to all BAG members.”
Alongside the Hosting Airport Coalition, BAG is joined by the Regional and Business Airports Group (RABA), the regional airports trade association of over 40 UK and British Dependency airports.

Registration to attend the EXPO and the six free conferences is free-of-charge.
To exhibit (and 10% discount on published exhibition prices for BAG members) contact
Steve O’Connor, Sales Director.
Join the UK Pavilion at inter airport Europe 2021

The British Aviation Group will be hosting for the first time the UK Pavilion at inter airport europe on 9-12 November 2021 in a prominent area in Hall 6 adjacent to one of the doors leading to the external exhibition area. This will be the 23rd edition of inter airport europe, the world’s leading airport exhibition, which covers all areas of airport-related technology, equipment, and services, all in one place.  As part of the TERMINAL segment, the show offers solutions and equipment for the construction and operation of terminal buildings, the architectural design, equipment, and planning stage of the airport. The DATA area covers airport IT systems, data management solutions as well as connected systems and IT processes to handle passengers, operations as well as air traffic. The RAMP segment covers ground handling, ground support equipment, runway constructions and installations.
