On 23 July 2021, the Department for Transport announced the start of their consultation on mandating the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the UK. The consultation proposes the introduction of an obligation on fuel suppliers to reduce their carbon footprint through the greater use of SAF and is seeking the views of industry on the ambition and design of the proposed SAF mandate. The consultation will run for 8 weeks, from 23 July to 19 September 2021.
