The Ministry of Transport has thrown its weight behind Binh Phuoc Province’s proposal to convert its military airfield in Hon Quan District into a specialized airport.
The ministry said on January 27 that the airport would serve both military and civil purposes, contributing to the southern province’s socioeconomic development.
Under the prevailing regulations, the closure, opening or location of a specialized airport is decided by the Ministry of National Defense. As such, the Transport Ministry told the provincial government to work with the Ministry of National Defense to complete procedures related to the location of the Hon Quan airport.
The Ministry of Transport will closely cooperate with the Ministry of National Defense and other relevant agencies to support the province’s plan, the local media reported.
