Alstef Group has secured a contract from Sofia Airport in Bulgaria to supply, install, and maintain a new baggage handling system (BHS).
The deployment of the passenger baggage management solution under the BGN20m ($11m) contract is said to align with the pace of traffic rebound and the airport’s development plans.
Once completed, the BHS will facilitate full self-service (self-bag drop) at pre-check-in for a flight as well as allow check-in agent-assisted service.
In addition to the deployment of the new baggage system, the airport plans to rebuild the check-in area in Terminal 2 (T2).
Going forward, the airport plans to add more check-in counters.
