The single-pilot cockpit concept is currently being developed by several aircraft manufacturers.

ALPA warns against the dangers of single-pilot cockpits, citing increased workload for the remaining pilot and the loss of constant monitoring and redundancy provided by the second pilot.

Implementing eMCO would mean no direct help in case the single pilot becomes incapacitated or has a psychological break, posing a significant safety risk.

The loss of checks and balances on a single pilot's decision-making could compromise the safety of the aircraft, as recent incidents have demonstrated the need for a flight crew with multiple pilots.
