The Single European Sky initiative was launched almost 15 years ago as part of the European Commission’s attempt to improve air traffic management, but has so far failed to deliver on its targets. For industry stakeholders, the key to making it succeed lies in digitalisation.  According to ACI Europe director general Olivier Jankovec, ...peak in delays is due to the failure of the Single European Sky (SES) project – a pan-European initiative launched in 2004 – to deliver a solid ATM system for the continent.
