The sampling will target international flights arriving at San Francisco International Airport.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has become the first airport in the US to launch a regular program in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to test aircraft wastewater for traces of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. San Francisco International Airport is a major international hub for United Airlines, with flights arriving from Europe, Asia, and Australasia on a daily basis.
