Sacramento International Airport (SMF) in Northern California has announced five major expansion plans that will help it meet future passenger demands.

The 1.3 billion USD investment will be carried out over seven years and will include airside and landside improvements.

Additional gates, ticket counters, baggage claim carousels and office space will be constructed, and improvements will be made to the baggage handling systems.

A new ADA-compliant pedestrian walkway will also be constructed between Terminal B and Concourse B to enable future expansion.

A new Terminal B Parking Garage will provide an additional 3,400-5,500 parking spaces west of Terminal B.

In addition, a new Terminal A Exit Road & Ground Transportation Center will allow for better traffic flow
