A competition to run the first-ever commercial aircraft flight powered by 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) between the UK and the US has been extended by the Department for Transport (DfT) until 23:59 on Wednesday 15 June.

On 14 May the DfT, in partnership with Innovate, launched a competition to support industry to achieve the first net zero transatlantic flight on a commercial aircraft using 100% SAF within one year.

Up to £1m in funding will be made available from 2022 to 2023 to support the testing, research and personnel costs of the initiative.
