Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport has been granted $5.1 million from the 2023 infrastructure law for renovation work. Mitchell is one of 99 airports across the U.S. to receive funding from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The funding stems from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act which provides $550 billion in funding from 2022 to 2026 — including $1 billion for U.S. airports. Mitchell said in a statement that it plans to use the funding to replace the roof in Concourse D

In other work at Mitchell, the airport plans to remove two of its five landing strips. Harold Mester, Director of Public Affairs and Marketing at Mitchell, said that the removal of the two runways would not inhibit the airport's hopes for growth.
