Travellers planning to fly abroad from Heathrow Airport today are currently stuck in huge queues and have seen their flights cancelled. This is due to a combination of staff Covid infections and the holiday rush as the schools break-up for Easter.

British Airways has cancelled more than one hundred flights to and from the airport today, due to staff members coming down with Covid-19. This follows a weekend of drama as EasyJet cancelled more than 200 flights, leaving customers stranded.

Flight delays of 10 hours have been reported by passengers - with only 10 minutes notice, while others reported queues of more than three hours. An easyJet spokesperson said yesterday: "As a result of the current high rates of Covid infections across Europe, like all businesses easyJet is experiencing higher than usual levels of employee sickness.
