This is a temporary solution while Colombia builds Cartagena's new international airport.

Colombia’s government has approved the private initiative project to expand the Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) in Cartagena. This airport is critical for the touristic development of the Colombian Caribbean coastline. In 2019, the airport received 5.6 million passengers and 4.01 million in 2021 (the 2022 figures have not been released yet).

This project previews the construction of a new international terminal of 17,360 square meters, the expansion of the main apron to 99,770 square meters, and the remodeling of the current terminal.

Colombia expects this project to last 2.5 years with a budget of around US$105 million.
