Mayor Ros Jones said the fight to save the site is far from over but it could be a long process
The battle to save Doncaster Sheffield Airport could take two years officials have warned.
Doncaster Council has committed to exploring a number of plans to try and save the site. Last week the cabinet approved the £3.1m of funding necessary to begin a compulsory purchase order (CPO) process.
Officials say they are still negotiating with Peel Group regarding a lease for the site and a CPO remains their last resort. They have said however that should a CPO be necessary, it will be a long process and could take up to two years to complete.
