Welcome

Another couple of busy weeks for BAG have passed since I Iast wrote to you.

Firstly I would like to update you on the new arrangements for the BAG Annual Dinner; as you are aware, we unfortunately had to take the difficult decision to postpone the BAG Annual Dinner scheduled for 14 September 2022 following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We are now delighted to announce that the rescheduled event will be held as the BAG New Year Dinner on 18 January 2023 at the same venue, The Brewery, and we are looking forward to seeing you there – coming together as a community with a wide array of stakeholders, clients and Government representatives. All arrangements will remain the same and if you have already made a booking, this will automatically be carried over for the new date. If you have not booked your space yet, we still have spaces available, so you can reserve your table or seat here.

In July 2022 BAG was successful in our application to sit on the Jet Zero Council Zero Emissions Flight Delivery Group
, and on 23 September I was able to further contribute by joining a dedicated workshop which was focusing on a two year outlook of activities. We are pleased to confirm that Rachel Gardner-Poole, Chair of the Jet Zero Emissions Flight Delivery Group will be our Key Note Speaker at the BAG New Year Dinner and Mark Aizlewood (Zero Emissions Flight Lead Manager) will join us at our upcoming Members Day.

The Autumn BAG Members Day is back and will be held on 20 October 2022 at
Arup’s offices and will be themed around Skills, Future Flight and Integrated Transport. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there for an afternoon of presentations, interactive workshops and networking. Please book your place on the BAG website.

Last week I met with the Chief Executive and the new Chair of BAR UK (Board of Airline Representatives in the UK) to discuss how as a sector we can work even closer together. As one of the co-organisers BAR UK has kindly offered BAG a special discounted rate for Airlines 2022 Conference, 21 November 2022. To take advantage of this offer please click here
.

Earlier this week BAG also had the opportunity to take part in two great conversations with the Department for Transport (DfT). DfT are currently developing the Call for Evidence for the proposed zero emissions target for airport operations by 2040, and BAG was invited to feedback on initial scoping ideas as a stakeholder.  In addition, BAG took part in the initial fact finding interview for DfT's Ground Handling Review.

Looking at overseas activities, I was privileged to attend the Department for International Trade’s Market Access Global Conference Reception last week where I connected with Trade Policy Teams covering a range of BAG’s Priority Markets and we will continue our close working relationships with Embassies and DIT Teams around the world to keep our members close to market opportunities. We are currently preparing for a Deep Dive session with the DIT Team in Saudi Arabia in October and discussing plans for an outward mission to India in the new year. Members of the BAG Board have also met with the DIT Team from Australia earlier this week in London as the Australian market is opening again. Our communication with the DIT Team in the USA remains open – thank you to all members who have submitted their interest in the opportunities at Chicago O’Hare, which is now with the airport team for review.

Finally, may I extend a warm welcome to our latest new member company EmpathyceLimited. We are looking forward to collaborating with you. If you know of any other companies who might benefit from being part of British Aviation Group, please connect them with the BAG Team who can schedule an introductory call.

BAG Members Day & Networking Reception Skills, Future Flight & Integrated Transport- 20 October 2022 *Book Now*

On 20 October 2022, BAG will be holding our Autumn LIVE BAG Members Day in central London starting with a Networking lunch from 12.00 followed by an afternoon event programme, and a subsequent Networking Reception. The event will be themed around Skills, Future Flight & Integrated Transport. This Members Day will once again be run as an interactive workshop open to all member companies.

Client expectations around sustainability are escalating all the while as they strive towards their net zero and decarbonisation targets.   It is no longer an option for the supply chain to ignore this important challenge. We also understand that no sector can do this in isolation, so we will be discussing the wider integrated transport conversations we should be holding. The event will also explore how we can create a workforce ready to deliver the skills required for the future of aviation - as set out in the Government’s Flightpath to the Future strategy.

The workshop will

  • Update members on BAG’s activities over the past 12 months. Explain how members can get engaged across BAG’s various activities and groups and capture feedback of members views on our strategic priorities and delivery.
  • Learn about a new recruitment, awareness, and engagement campaign supported by the Department for Transport. Government and industry will work together to build an aviation workforce fit for the future, inspiring a diverse, talented, and sustainable workforce that can seize the opportunities that the coming decades will bring. Understand how BAG members can benefit from a dedicated new Aviation Skills platform – ‘TalentView’.
  • Give members the opportunity to participate in facilitated group conversations around relevant themes.  Member feedback will be used to help the Board shape representative views, which will be shared with Government bodies to help them shape policy.
  • Offer members the chance to participate in an interactive Integrated Transport workshop where we will explore where linkages could be forged and where we can add value without duplicating. BAG is keen to understand where there are opportunities to coalesce around solutions cross-modally, especially on the Sustainability agenda.
  • Give members the opportunity to understand more about key groups and initiatives such as Future Flight Challenge and Jet Zero Council’s Zero Emissions Flight Delivery Group, and the role BAG plays in these groups.

We do hope to welcome you at this BAG Members Day for an insightful and collaborative workshop!. To register for the event, please click here!
