Vienna Airport is setting an ambitious course for the future with an extensive series of initiatives aimed at elevating the passenger experience, achieving sustainability milestones, and expanding its network of international routes.

The airport is now progressing to a new phase with the planned expansion of Terminal 3, set to open in 2027. This substantial development will add approximately 70,000 square meters of space dedicated to shopping, food and beverage options, lounges, and a new, more expansive security checkpoint.

Since 2023, the airport has operated with CO2-neutral processes, reducing emissions from 70,000 tons to just 6,000 tons annually...In line with its sustainability agenda, Vienna Airport operates Austria’s second-largest photovoltaic power plant, which contributes up to 26 megawatts of electricity, covering nearly half of the airport’s total energy needs. This impressive energy production allows Vienna Airport to reduce its reliance on non-renewable resources, supporting its long-term vision of becoming a Net Zero airport by 2033.

Vienna Airport’s management is committed to balancing growth initiatives with operational excellence...The airport is committed to staying at the forefront of innovation, regularly testing new technologies that have the potential to improve security and reduce wait times.
