Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has begun its largest capital investment since opening in 1974. The US$9bn capital improvement plan, called DFW Forward, includes more than 180 projects intended to transform terminals, add facilities and amenities, grow number of gates, improve roadways and connectivity and enhance the airfield. Overall, the project will see the build or reconstruction of 52 gates over the next few years. This includes 24 additional gates across three of the airport's terminals.

Sean Donohue, CEo of DFW, said, "We're embarking on a period of development that will touch many areas of our facilities, from the terminals to the roadways, bringing with it new technology and improved customer experiences. By investing billions of dollars, we are further enhancing our efficiencies as an airport and prviding the needed framework to support the historic growth in the air travel to and from North Texas."
