Tampa International Airport is advancing a $25.4 million contract to expand and reconfigure its ticketing level.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority is set to consider a design-build contract with Austin Commercial for the first phase of the project at its April 2 meeting.

The work stems from the airport’s 2022 master plan update, which identified operational constraints tied to rising passenger volume.

Plans call for a 14,000-square-foot expansion adding 28 ticket counters, relocating airline offices into a new 30,000-square-foot space and reworking the existing 135,000-square-foot ticketing area to improve passenger flow. The project supports a capacity of up to 38 million annual passengers...
