International Airport Review
07 October 2024
Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in partnership with Autism Ontario and Air Transat, hosted its second annual ‘Ready, Set, Fly…with YYZ.’ This event is an immersive airport familiarisation tour, aimed at supporting families and individuals with autism or neurodivergent needs.
“At Toronto Pearson, we’re committed to making air travel accessible to everyone, ensuring that every passenger can experience the joy and confidence of flying,” said Kurush Minocher, Executive Director of Customer Experience and Airline Relations, Toronto Pearson. “From going through the screening processes to boarding a plane, the event helps empower passengers with autism or neurodivergent needs and their families to familiarise themselves with the full airport experience.”
The event provides participants with real-life experience navigating Canada’s busiest airport to help reduce anxiety about flying. Approximately 200 people are invited to Toronto Pearson to simulate all aspects of travelling, including check-in, security screening, boarding a real airplane, customs and interacting with airport staff.
