Zipping through airport security with a face scan may soon be a reality as Italy tests FaceBoarding at Milan Linate and Catania airports.
Ever forget your passport in the rush to catch your flight? Soon, this may be less of a worry at two Italian airports. Milan Linate Airport and Sicily’s Catania Airport in Italy are piloting a groundbreaking facial recognition technology called ‘FaceBoarding’.
Developed by French IT company Thales, FaceBoarding allows passengers to breeze through airport security checkpoints with a simple facial scan.
Designed to simplify, secure, and expedite airport travel, FaceBoarding offers a convenient alternative. To avail of this feature, passengers must register after checking in online or at the airport. This process involves scanning your boarding pass, passport, and face at the airport kiosks. By June, a dedicated app will be launched to streamline FaceBoarding registration even further.
