The world's airports are increasingly facing a "high wire balancing act" as they struggle to meet traffic demand at the same time as contending with issues outside of their control, such as the rise in protectionism, isolationism, and risks associated with climate change, says ACI World.

Having reached 8.8 billion in 2018, global traffic is forecast to double by 2037, reveals ACI World, although over the long term, it is projected to grow at an annualised rate of 3.7%, reaching 19.7 billion by 2040.
