Passport e-gates at Heathrow failed for the third time in as many months this morning.

E-gates are used to process the vast majority of British and European arrivals. They are also able to process arrivals from the US, Canada, Australia and Japan.

It is the third time in less than three months that the electronic gates have failed. One Heathrow employee, who asked not to be named, said the failures were becoming frustratingly common.
