Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that aviation regulators will visit the state next week to conduct a site inspection and assessment of the proposed Lekki International Airport before construction begins.

The first phase of the project, initially estimated at N171.64 billion (approximately $450 million), is subject to fluctuations in Foreign Exchange (FOREX) rates.

The proposed airport, situated about 10 kilometers from the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ), was initially slated for completion in 2028. Designed to accommodate large aircraft such as the Airbus A380, the facility will be a Code F-compliant airport, covering 3,500 hectares...
