King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024, welcoming over 49.1 million passengers, the highest annual operational performance in Saudi airport history. This marks a 14% increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year, further solidifying its position as a key hub in the region. The airport also recorded over 278,000 flights (+11%) and managed 47.1 million pieces of luggage, reflecting a significant 21% growth in baggage operations.
This exceptional performance highlights Saudi Arabia’s rapid expansion in the aviation sector, driven by its National Strategy for the Civil Aviation Sector. The strategy aims to elevate annual passenger traffic to 330 million, expand air freight capacity to 4.5 million tons, and connect to 250 destinations globally by 2030.
Recognized globally for its achievements, the aviation sector saw 16 Saudi airports receive ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ) accreditation in 2024.
