ICAO’s third Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels (CAAF/3) reached an agreement to “strive to achieve a collective global aspiration vision” to reduce CO2 emissions in international aviation by 5% by 2030.
The agreement, which was reached by policymakers from more than 100 ICAO member states that met in Dubai in November, included a global framework to promote sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production around the world.
“The aim is that aviation fuel in 2030 is 5% less carbon intensive than fossil fuel used today by the industry,” IATA said.
