House of Lords

The House of Lords saw a debate about domestic aviation and decarbonisation on 20 April 2021, following a question to the Government on its view of the new French law prohibiting domestic flights to destinations that can be reached by train in two and a half hours or less. Baroness Vere, DfT Minister in the Lords, helpfully stated that “This Government do not propose to ban domestic flights; we propose investing in high-speed rail and ensuring that our aviation sector as a whole contributes to decarbonisation.”
