With hydrogen, flying should become more climate-friendly. Investments are being made at Stuttgart Airport for this purpose. A so-called “Hydrogen Aviation Center” is planned.

A development center for hydrogen aircraft is to be built at Stuttgart Airport. As the airport and the company H2Fly announced on Monday, a new hangar with workshops, laboratories and test stands is planned by the end of 2024. The state of Baden-Württemberg supports this “Hydrogen Aviation Center” with more than five million euros.

The goal was the development of components for hydrogen-electric drives in the megawatt range. It should also be possible to test them on site. A concept for supplying the airport with hydrogen is also planned.
