One of India’s major airports, Chennai International Airport, had to stop flight operations on December 4 as the entire airport, including the runway, was flooded due to a cyclone in the region. Over a thousand flights across the country were affected by this, with more than half of that of IndiGo alone.

With a cyclone battering India’s eastern coast, one of the country’s major airports in Chennai found itself along the storm’s path. Visuals of floodwater entering Chennai International Airport began circulating on social media, and images of planes parked at the airport amid rising water levels revealed the severity of the weather.
