Finland's flight connections have developed positively in recent years. New scheduled flight connections have been opened to Helsinki Airport and several regional airports. In addition, several airlines have increased the capacity with existing flight connections. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of passengers at Finavia’s airports has increased at an annual rate of approximately 10 per cent.

In 2026, several of the world’s largest airlines have been welcomed to Helsinki Airport. China Southern Airlines started operating between Beijing and Helsinki in spring 2026, and Qatar Airways reopened its Doha-Helsinki route in the summer.
