The Aerotropolis Regional Committee announced plans to build an “aerotropolis” on the undeveloped land around Denver International Airport.

In early June, the committee launched Colorado Aerotropolis, which plans on bringing new businesses to the thousands of acres of land around DIA.

While this plan is technically considered a city, the committee said that the developments will mostly be industrial, although there could be residential developments included.

“Aerotropoli are typically focused more on commercial and industrial development—business parks, industrial buildings, distribution centers, commercial office buildings, and hospitality and entertainment venues,” according to the committee’s press release.

Due to the proximity of the airport, the development is focused on businesses that need time-sensitive manufacturing.

The aerotropolis plans to be located on land in Denver and Adams County.
