The UK is making "good progress" towards being able to test people for coronavirus on arrival at airports, the transport secretary has said.

Grant Shapps said the government aimed to launch a testing programme after England's lockdown ends - currently due to be 2 December.

He said the tests would allow for a "much reduced" self-isolation period. It is currently 14 days for international arrivals.

Tests would be paid for by passengers.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will hold a press conference at Downing Street later - it is currently expected at 17:00 BST.

He will be joined by England's deputy chief medical officer Prof Jonathan Van-Tam and Brigadier Joe Fossey.
