The Prime Minister, Vasile Tofan, visited the main areas of the airport this morning to see how the infrastructure is coping with peak-hour traffic. Between 5.00 and 7.00 there were 16 flights, and during these times the airport is operating at full capacity.
“Traffic has doubled in just two years, and this year we will exceed 7 million passengers. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the infrastructure can no longer cope,” said Vasile Tofan.
He said that some problems could be resolved in the short term. Accordingly, the Prime Minister has called for more waiting areas to be provided where they are currently lacking, the installation of mobile coffee and food outlets to reduce queues, and the allocation of additional staff to security checkpoints during peak hours...
