The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced another round of funding for 90 airport-related infrastructure grants across 34 states, totaling nearly $187 million. The projects are funded under President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) program, which is part of the $25 billion allocated in the law for airport improvements such as terminal expansions, baggage system upgrades, and runway safety enhancements.
Some of the notable airports receiving funding in this round include:
– Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Michigan: $61.8 million for the rehabilitation of an existing on-airport roadway.
– San Diego International Airport in California: $23.5 million for the construction of a new 1,210,000-square-foot terminal building.
– Kodiak Airport in Alaska: $19.7 million for the reconstruction of Taxiway F pavement.
– Pittsburgh International Airport in Pennsylvania: $20.5 million for the reconstruction of the existing terminal building.
– Portland International Jetport in Maine: $8.1 million for the rehabilitation of a portion of the existing parallel Taxiway A pavement and various other airfield projects.
