Belfast International Airport in the United Kingdom, has successfully achieved Level 3 Optimisation in the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
Reaching Level 3 requires airports to broaden the scope of their carbon footprint assessments to include various Scope 3 emissions, and to provide evidence of collaboration with third-party operators to reduce these emissions. This achievement builds on the airport’s ongoing efforts to lower emissions directly under its control, a key requirement of Level 2 Reduction.
Operated by VINCI Airports, Belfast International Airport remains committed to sustainable operations through a range of initiatives. These include enhancing energy efficiency, introducing electric vehicles across its fleet, and powering all diesel vehicles with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). Additionally, the airport is developing a comprehensive sustainability strategy to drive long-term progress.
