The Qatari-based Al-Khayyat family, which controls a prominent construction and investment conglomerate, has announced that it is considering a major investment in Ethiopia’s planned Bishoftu mega-airport project.
Through its construction arm, UCC Holding, the group has signaled strong interest in the large-scale initiative a cornerstone of the Ethiopian government’s infrastructure modernization strategy.
Beyond its potential engagement in Ethiopia, the Al-Khayyat family is reportedly planning to undertake a 400-kilometer road construction project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, underscoring its expanding footprint in African infrastructure development.
Led by Mohammed Moutaz Al-Khayyat and Ramez Al-Khayyat, the family’s enterprise already manages substantial investments in Qatar and Syria. It is now actively evaluating opportunities tied to the strategic Bishoftu airport project, which is expected to become one of Africa’s largest aviation hubs...
