New Government proposal for domestic UK flights will replace EU legislation that only paid out for three-hour hold-ups
Passengers on domestic flights in the UK will be entitled to compensation for delays of one hour or more under new plans announced by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
The UK aviation industry is currently subject to European Union legislation that dictates that compensation can only be paid out for delayed flights of less than 1,500km (932 miles) when their aeroplane lands more than three hours after the intended time.
Claims are also limited to a flat rate of £220, whereas the new proposals mean refunds will be linked to the price paid for tickets, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
