Airport Technology
The agreement between ADR and Eni aims to support decarbonisation efforts in the aviation segment and fast-track ecological transition of airports.
Aeroporti di Roma (ADR), an Italian fixed-base operator of Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA), has signed a strategic agreement with oil and gas firm Eni to develop biofuels for the aviation sector.
The agreement will see decarbonisation and digitalisation projects for transforming ADR-managed airports to smart hubs, in an effort to fast-track the ecological transition of airports.
Additionally, it will enable the introduction of sustainable fuels for aviation (SAF) and for ground handling (HVO) in the coming months that would result in lower carbon emissions, when compared to fossil fuels.
