The number of travellers using Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga each year could grow by some 20 million in the next five to 10 years, the organization that runs the airport says.
In its capital plan, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which runs Pearson, said in early 2024 it’s preparing for the passenger growth to come in the decade or so ahead.
Pearson LIFT will see the modernization of existing airport assets, including high-speed taxi lanes, a modernized airfield electric lighting and control system, and interim terminal facilities, according to the earlier press release. The plan also includes investments in power generation to help the airport achieve net-zero targets.
