The contract for a portfolio of baggage handling projects, known as Q6, has been awarded to baggage handling specialist BEUMER Group. The projects include nine new Standard 3 Hold Baggage Screening machines in Terminal 2, as well as an energy-efficient Crisplant LS-4000E tilt-tray baggage sorter and a major replacement and integration of the high-level system controls in Terminals 1 and 4.
The Q6 projects demand meticulous phasing and an operational mitigation plan backed by comprehensive system emulations. This will ensure that the live operation of Heathrow Airport will be protected throughout delivery of this extensive project.
