Embedding innovation in the new 600m long, £592m facility, ranging from designs that championed off-site modular construction, to pioneering top-down construction that unlocked the constrained site.
Adopting BIM provided clarity and true colloboration, facilitating early assured decision making and realising significant time and cost savings. We tested all manner of design and construction ideas, assessing technical and programme advantages, and using on screen 'walk throughs'.
Our specialist designers enabled this 24 hour facility to harness a number of passive design measures, helping to achieve Heathrow's vision of an environmentally responsible terminal. The terminal has already won 'Gold' in the Green Apple Awards and, has uniquely achieved a BREEAM rating.
