Massive airport expansion plan
The local authorities have gone on record as saying that they want fewer tourists and that the industry has reached a ceiling. Obviously, Palma airport wasn't listening because they are planning for at least one million more air travellers.
Palma Airport is currently capped at a capacity of around 34 million passengers per year, though under the new DORA III airport plan approved in September 2026, it is forecast and scheduled to accommodate up to 35.6 million passengers by 2031.
