London Gatwick Airport is gearing up for an exciting and transformative year ahead in 2026, as it continues to bolster its position as one of the UK’s most important international gateways.

The airport has secured government approval for its £2.2 billion Northern Runway Project, which will be a game-changer in increasing capacity and resilience.

In addition to the infrastructure upgrade, Gatwick has also significantly expanded its global network, which now covers 227 destinations across six continents. With eight new airline partnerships and the introduction of Jet2 flights starting this month.

Gatwick’s commitment to improving efficiency is evident in the significant progress made in runway operations. The airport has reached record levels of runway efficiency, which allows it to increase the maximum number of aircraft movements from 55 to 57 per hour in 2026.

Gatwick’s ongoing investment in its infrastructure is central to its strategy of improving the passenger experience. As part of the £1.9 billion Capital Investment Programme, the airport will see significant improvements across its terminals. These include expanded departure lounges, new taxiways, upgraded security screening, and preparation for the Pier 6 extension, which is set to add eight aircraft stands by summer 2027...
