International aviation experts gathered in Ecuador’s capital this week to discuss the future of “airport cities”, as operators of Quito’s main airport unveiled plans to expand cargo infrastructure and strengthen global connectivity.
Quiport announced plans to expand the airport’s cargo terminal by 5,000 sq m, add a new aircraft stand for cargo operations, and reconfigure the truck staging area to improve logistics efficiency. The projects form part of the airport’s master plan and are expected to be completed by 2030, supporting growth in Ecuador’s international trade.
