Anyone traveling out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport this summer may notice several ongoing construction projects, including an expansion of Terminal Two, a new primary runway, and roadwork.
As more people call central North Carolina home, the airport continues taking steps to keep up with demand. Landside expansion at Terminal Two is ongoing, which will eventually bring more check-in counters, TSA screening checkpoints, and baggage claims.
The cornerstone project is a new primary runway that will allow RDU to consider adding more gates and more flights at Terminal Two when complete.
The new runway will cause some traffic changes. To meet FAA safety regulations, Lumley Road, which is located just north of the primary runway, will have to be relocated further away...
