In a significant development for travellers and aviation professionals alike, Zurich Airport has commenced construction on a cutting‑edge general aviation facility in the western sector of the airport campus. The ambitious infrastructure initiative is designed to address rising demand, modernise aviation services and support evolving air travel needs. Why Zurich Needed a New General Aviation Base
The scale of general aviation activity at Zurich Airport outgrew the capacity of existing facilities located in the eastern part of the airport grounds. These older hangars and support structures had reached the end of their useful life and no longer aligned with industry requirements, especially for larger, modern business jets and private aircraft. At the same time, a major taxiway redesign around Runway 28, aimed at improving safety and operational fluidity, necessitated relocation of the outdated infrastructure...
