On April 14, 2026, Zurich Airport officially launched a major infrastructure project in the western part of the airport grounds. Flughafen Zürich AG is investing approximately 100 million Swiss francs in the construction of a new terminal for general aviation, which will handle all business and private air traffic in the future.

The project includes a modern terminal building, a spacious hangar, and dedicated apron areas. The new construction is necessary due to the airport reaching its capacity limits and the end of its service life at the existing facilities in the eastern part of the airport. Furthermore, a key safety project, the so-called runway rerouting, requires a spatial redesign of the site. The new infrastructure is designed to meet the increased demand for parking spaces for larger aircraft types and, thanks to its immediate proximity to the heliport, will significantly expedite processes for passengers and service providers. Commissioning is planned for spring 2028...
