Greece has launched the tender for the air navigation systems of the new Heraklion International Airport at Kastelli, marking a key step toward the certification and future operation of the under-construction aviation hub on Crete.

The tender, issued by Heraklion International Airport of Crete (HIA), follows the air navigation equipment agreement signed on January 30, by Infrastructure and Transport Minister Christos Dimas. It covers the design, supply, installation, testing, integration and maintenance of the airport’s aeronautical systems.

These include communications, navigation and surveillance systems, as well as RVR equipment, multilateration (MLAT), A-SMGCS, meteorological systems, a backup control tower and a tower simulator...
